Immediate Opening - Quality Control Manager

Professional Power Products, Inc. is currently seeking a qualified Quality Control Manager. Professional Power Products has over 20 years in the power generation industry. Since 1986, the Company has been supplying quality power generation equipment for both domestic and international markets. We are in need of talent to continue our growth.

Professional Power Products offers quality electrical power generation equipment for the entire power industry. We manufacture a complete line of base tanks, enclosures and switchgear products for industrial, commercial and utility applications. Our electrical switchgear and control products are found around the world in all types of applications including Utility, Offshore Oil & Gas platforms, hospitals and office buildings. From reciprocating liquid and gaseous fueled engine packaging and controls to gas turbine packaging and controls you will find our commitment to quality evident in each product which is designed, manufactured, tested and shipped from our facility.

SUMMARY
QCM shall be responsible for quality and reliability of products and services. The QCM tracks and monitors quality issue in the factory and in the field. The QCM understands and actively performs root cause analysis along with the administering the NCR process. The QCM shall possess strong knowledge in manufacturing and statistics. QCM will interface with customer QCM and Project managers to develop a strong rapport for customer and quality guided production management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work with Engineering, Quality Control, and all Manufacturing departments in order to control production process and implement Quality Checks .
• Study internal audits to ensure compliance with the ISO standard and or make suggestions in order to bring Organization into ISO compliance..
• Perform customer satisfaction surveys, record and analyze data
• Use data from customer satisfaction surveys to implement quality checks and improve process quality. Report issues to Management and prepare training for organizational compliance.
• Works with purchasing to qualify suppliers, including on-site surveys.
• Develop reports and presentations to illustrate effective process changes and inform management of future changes that may be implemented.
• Participation on the Material Review Board, as required.
• Develop, track, and enforce punch lists for individual project quality and collate data to identify trends and or issues for corrective actions.
• Develops implements and reviews corrective action and process improvements.
• Develop process flow charts, process map activities, identify and define value added activities.
• Meet with process owners at various dept. & functions, collect information, and draft practical procedures.
• Manage and process in-coming drawings, work instructions by following dept. Document Control policy & procedures.
• Prepare documentation for organization and customers for After Action Reports in order to foster a customer first environment
• Work closely with customer Quality Control Managers and Project managers to implement customer requests quickly and with organizational improvement plans to meet customer commitments while maintaining a continuous improvement environment.
• Bring a positive CAN DO attitude everyday and encourage all organizational employees in Quality Control. Be a positive role model.

QUALIFICATIONS

The right candidate shall possess the following qualifications and experience to be considered for the position:

Education and/or Experience
• The right candidate shall possess a minimum (7) years of experience in a mfg. environment, with exposure to engineering and quality systems.
• Strong understanding of Statistics is desired
• Root Cause analysis is a plus
• Strong interpersonal skills with employee relations and reporting to management utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite are necessary.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Industrial/Quality Engineering desired However > 7 years experience in progressively greater responsibility roles with emphasis in power generation will be deemed equal to degree.
• Knowledge of ISO-9001 and ISO-14001 quality management systems with emphasis on EPA regulations on stationary Diesel generators is a plus.
• Know ledge of Quality practices for military / commercial and Industrial is desired.
• Knowledge in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methods.
• Green Belt certification a plus.
• ACAD Electrical experience is a plus
• Calibration and Gage R&R programs experience a plus

Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals using the Microsoft office 2003 or greater suite.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, managers, clients, customers.

Ability work as liaison between customer QCM and Project managers to meet customer Goals while remaining committed to PPPI Manufacturing and Quality Philosophy.

Trilingual English/Spanish/German is a plus.

SUMMARY
Quality Engineer shall be proficient in most quality engineering tools, and methodologies. QE shall have sufficient experience in application of problem solving techniques, auditing, generating reports, process mapping, and writing concise and clear application procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serve as a liaison between the engineering department and production departments.
• Perform internal audits to ensure compliance with the ISO standard and internal/external procedures/standards/specifications. Write corrective actions and follow up on all actions stemming from internal and external audits.
• Recommend and support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions that are necessary to reduce or eliminate nonconformance to design specifications. Develop, implement, and review corrective/preventive actions and process improvements.
• Use 5S/Lean/Six Sigma techniques to drive improvements in efficiency and effectiveness of company process.
• Work with project engineers to define and document inspection plans and test processes.
• Work with engineering to evaluate drawings, specifications, and changes during the formative stages of the design output for factors affecting quality, reliability, safety, production, and operation of the product (Design Review).
• Prepare documentation packages required for customer approval.
• Participation on the Material Review Board, as required.
• Develop process flow charts, process map activities, identify and define value added activities.
• Meet with process owners at various dept. & functions, collect information, and draft practical work instructions.
• Develop and deliver training programs as required, including safety.

QUALIFICATIONS

The right candidate shall possess the following qualifications and experience to be considered for the position:

Education and/or Experience
• The right candidate shall possess minimum (5) years of experience in a mfg. environment, with exposure to quality systems.
• Bachelor's degree in Industrial/Quality Engineering desired.
• Knowledge of ISO-9001 quality management systems required.
• Knowledge in Lean/Six Sigma Manufacturing and continuous improvement methods required.
• ASQ Certified Quality Engineer or Six Sigma Green Belt certification desired.
• Must have technical writing experience.

Language Skills
Ability to read analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

SUMMARY

The Mechanical Engineering Manager will lead the Mechanical Engineering team and will partner closely with operations and sales to deliver world-class project management and engineering processes that will enable the company to realize its growth goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This list of duties and responsibilities are not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

Lead and develop the Mechanical Engineering Department.

Department needs to provide production with complete BOM’s and routes while ensuring manufacturability.

Establish department strategic objectives / key performance indicators (KPI) aligned with departmental and corporate strategic objectives.

Establish methods to measure performance against department strategic objectives / KPI’s and report results.

Implement corrective and preventative actions as required based on performance against strategic objectives / KPI’s.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

Required B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.

8+ years of work experience, including 2 - 5 years managing an Engineering Department.

Masters Degree preferred.

Professional Engineering License a plus.

Demonstrated  Management skills and abilities but not limited to team building, leadership, coaching/training, goal setting, conflict management, performance management.

Basic knowledge of power distribution equipment.

Relationships:

Under the direction of and reporting to the COO.

Internal relationships include regular interaction:  Operations, Sales, Purchasing, Finance, Human Resources, and Field Service.

External relationships include regular interaction with customers and suppliers

The ideal candidate should be upbeat, highly energetic with a strong customer service approach to business. Must be results driven and have strong oral and written communication skills. Candidate should be able to work independently and flexible with changes occurring on a daily basis.  Candidate needs to be able to adapt to a growing and changing atmosphere.
